there's a couple of lads in clare who have the patagonia suits - i'll ask what they think of them.

That would be great .bru
Will you ask them about sizing, warmth, and flex.
Oh, and are they a smelly suit even without turning on the internal central heating.

i did "take the piss" about the alleged smell off them and one of them did admit to it being fairly odourous. i'll enquire more.

thought i'd follow up on this one - i had a feeling that i'd already answered the questions though, but.......

flex - fairly good, but not up tio psycho/elasto standards.
smell - yes indeedy, but bearable (if you like bears)
durability - seem pretty good so far
sizing - (didn't check)

i had thought it was odd that the "winter suit" thread had discusssions about a 3/2 but all became clear on friday. my buddy was out - still in his 3/2 and reckoned he was still warm enough (with hood and boots). he reckoned he might not make the whole winter but it's pretty damned impressive for a 3/2 to be warm enough at this time of year.

An Xcel that has been repaired have the best knees!. My suit now has very long and thick material knee pads, similiar to the original Xcel ones but just bigger. I think the suit was repaired by Snugg.

My suggestion would be to buy an Xcel, and when the knees go get it repaired with better knee pads.

My old replacement fireskin is still going well on the knees as well, they should have kept to using those for their suits.

Broke the zipper on my three year old rip curl fireskin (or stinger, can't remember) last week and while it does not affect the suits performance, it is a pain in the ass trying to pull it up. The knees had been getting thin but I had put off doing anything.

Decided to look around for a new suit, but Tubes are sending my suit back to Rip Curl (when I get a chance to drop it in to them). They have 25% of all suits at the moment in case anyone is wondering and have the excel infinities in stock - but only with hoods which I do not want

I reckon I am just going to get another fireskin suit from them, they are less than €200 now. I have been pleased with the suit in all ways, it has taken a fair bit of abuse also and have never had a probelm with cold (usually it is a complaint of too hot). I reckon on the policy that if I don't pay top bucks, I won't be disappointed, especially as I know the suit and am happy.

Patagonia in Dublin, don't think they'll ever stock the suits dry.gif

one of the companies should introduce a specially designed longboarder friendly type suit with bombproof knees.i remember a type of neoprene a good few years ago that c-skins used on the knee panels of their entry level suits,it was´nt the most stretchy of materials but by jesus was it durable longboardirl/hang loose.jpg

Havent got it yet, I tried on a 2mm Medium as they didnt have a 3mm in stock then they rang around the other stores and they had a 3mm for me in portland and they were going to ship to cardiff for me to collect on the way back from san diego but it turned out to be the wrong size so Devon said they would cover the cost of shipping it to Ireland when they got the right one in, which is fantastic sevice longboardirl/smileslayer.gif they could have just said sorry dont have one, prob has something to do with you driving him around for 5 days biggrin.gif
Suit looks amazing though Im hoping to use it for more months than I use my current 3/2 thats the plan anyway, the wool is a weird feeling when its on but its supposed to retain much more body heat, lookin forward to trying it out
