ripcurl fireskin 6/4, tried it out and nearly died through overheating

Thank christ Im no alone, looking forward to it on cold morning's in Feb though

It should have some kind of health warning on the suit, I think I will save it until it really turns cold longboardirl/cold.gif

Is the guy in Clare the only place for Xcel suits?

mpb- 10-31-2006
I heard rumours that a shop in cork was stocking them as well. I do recommend Stuart from the Green Room though, excellent customer service.

Is there any point getting an Xcel if the neck is too loose on them or has this issue been resolved?

My replacement suit is the Inifnti OS, which has a similiar zip/neck system as the psycho.

I think the suit I had was out of spec. The neck system on the front zip version is a bit hit and miss as the neck of the suit needs to be big enough to get over your head but tight enough to fit your neck, so it adds an extra complication to buying a suit. That said, I was the only one they had heard from with problems. Others who thought they had the same problem just had to tighten the shoulder draw cord.

However the OS version of the suit works the same as the psycho 2, it has a short back zip which is slightly off centre (running diagonally) to make pulling it up and down easier, as well as a bit more comfy, and the neck uses velcro so you can adjust to the correct tightness.

The shop I bought the Psycho 2 from don't stock Xcel so I might get a refund and just get the Infiniti next time I'm in Lahinch. What sort of money can you realistically expect to pay for one with a bit of haggling?

Greetings,
I got hold of an Xcel myself and have noticed a similar issue with the neck. Tightening the shoulder cord doesn't seem to make any difference but I think if I only get a flush once in a while then I can live with it.
Apart from that I really like it - it's a lot warmer and more flexible than my last suit. After reading your comments above I might get hold of one of the hooded vests - they sound a good job.

For the one with the OS zip, about 350 yoyo's, probably a bit less. They are slightly cheaper than the front zip version.

If your only getting a small bit of flushing I reckon that would probably do the trick, the outer flap helps a lot when duck diving to direct water away from your neck.

They stock them in Enniscrone

Thanks MPB, I'll check it out.

The Psycho 2 cost me the same as an Xcel would so I'll push for a refund in that case.

Thanks for the heads up ShoppingCart, but I reckon it could be a medium I'll be trying so what do I do? What do I doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?! unsure.gif biggrin.gif

The medium he tried on was the front zip version, you should be able to spot it easy enough, its in quarrantine in the corner of the shop. unsure.gif
