excel's long sleeve rash vest has an attached hood but the nice thing about them is that theres a 1mm flap that pulls down over the neck of the suit to avoid flushes. thats what i was looking at anyway biggrin.gif

I have that as well, It will help to reduce the flush but it will still be there. Also, the idea behind getting the hoodless was having the option of wearing the hood. It is a serious bit of kit though, nice fleece lining to keep you warm. The neck of my suit is just too slack, the size charts say that for a large you need a 16" neck, which is what my neck measures. It only really becomes apparent when you surf in the suit, arching your back/neck during paddling opens a gap at the back of the neck of the suit. I think that either the size charts are misleading or that the suit is out of spec.

The patagonia suits sound good.

marty, yer a great salemans for the hooded excel wink.gif i'll go looking this week ph34r.gif

I reckon I made the rookie mistake of not trying the next size down before buying rolleyes.gif , I blame it on the alcohol biggrin.gif . If I get no joy I will get the neck of the suit adjusted.

Yvon Chouinarad is a legend in a number of areas. Personal hero of mine - if you have ever gone rock climbing or ice climbing he is responsible for at least some of the equipment you are using. His trips to Patagonia (3 months climbing in a pretty inhospitable place) are legendary and now at 67 he is still surfing and fishing. Stopped climbing a long time ago. Great pic of him in (i think) TSP last year with a serious pot belly on himi going down the line.....sweet.

That'd be the one I read alright - real good attitude and a company I go out of my way to support longboardirl/hang loose.jpg

Didn't he have to be rescued by the Malloys while trying to get out to a rocky point break somewhere in Chile?

VortexSwirl- 10-17-2006
wouldn't surprise me - he is a proper legend. Pioneer ice and rock climber, expedition leader, company CEO, designed alot of climbing equipment and is trying to save the world as well. And his 1% profit organisation. He's up there with Tom Crean in my book.

Has anyone seen the one man play about Tom Crean? I'm getting a weekend up in the big shmoke soon and I might try and catch it?

herbie- 10-18-2006
can someone do a study on forum thread divergence? Josh?? smile.gif

VortexSwirl- 10-18-2006
I've heard that's good enough. Unfortunately Tom wasn't a great man for keeping a diary or writing descriptive letters. He just got on with it. LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

navier-stokes- 10-18-2006
for thread diverengence do we want a parmetracized chart showing

1) how many posts does it take to make a thread diverge?
2) most common people to cause a divergence?
3) is there a trend to the what topics are diverging to ...ie do all topics end up talking about the lack of waves in kerry?
4) ummm other items wanting to be investigated?

however overall this is a social science exercise...where is a uni student taking sociology?

Back to the topic... I cant decide between the O'Neill Heat or the West Edge. Both fit me perfectly. My last suit was a Heat and it fell apart, but it was the older model. Kinda leaning towards the West, its got those toasty rubber covered seams and a batwing neck yoke and a lovely white stripe across the chest blink.gif . But it's €50 extra, and moneys tight.
Anyone got any good/bad reviews of either?

herbie- 10-23-2006
Personally I would go for O'Neill.
