From the indo today sad.gif

A land and sea search is continuing in west Cork this morning amid fears that a surfer may be missing in the area.

The alarm was raised yesterday after passers-by claimed they saw the man in difficulty off Inchydoney in Clonakilty Bay.

A search was immediately mounted, but rescuers have so far found no trace of the surfer.

Two Coastguard units are involved in the operation and the Coastguard helicopter from Waterford is also being drafted in this morning.

just heard that on the news - I was down there last night, when I left there around 8.20 there was no one out the back just a few beginneers in the white water.

Christ I hope its a false alarm.

No I wouldn't have considered it heavy, howling onshore which made it lumpy, but nothing massive.

hi guys there don't seem to be anything on RTE news about it i thought this stage a search would be launched ?

goalposts- 04-24-2008
It's a false alarm. No one's been reported missing.

allsorts- 04-24-2008
search was started last night and stopped at 1am I believe and started again this morning, this is what I heard on local radio anyways.

There was a good bit of seaweed etc in the water last night so hopefully its a mistaken identity.

It was on 2FM news last night by nothing this morning. Last night they said a board had been found washed up or in the water I'm not sure how accurate that is, that's not what the papers say, they would have gone to press last night

here
