| Someone once told me that the Balinese believe you should never put green on a board as it symbolises bringing the land into the sea, which um, pisses the Gods off. They claimed that whenever a surfer drowns in Bali it's coz they had green on their board or their person. |

| I'm F*&%@d so, I've got 3 green boards. I'll never make it to Bali so I'm not too worried. My latest green board - well that goes so good and looks so cool I'd rather cut off me goolies than part with it. |

Yeah the Balinese would freak out if they saw you with either a green board or wearing green boardies in the sea. It's to do with some female goddess of the sea, I can't remember the story. I was out there ten years ago and got friendly with a local surfer who had told me of an aussie surfer who had been out in the water the day before surfin' in green boardies. The Indos freaked out with him telling him to go in as it would bring bad luck etc. Yer man paid no attention and as a sea snake swam harmlessly by this guy decided to "play" with it.......... twenty seconds later this dude is hunched over his board. By the time they got him to shore he was dead. True story. Kevin Naughton surfs with a shamrock decal on one of his boards, check out the surfari they did about two years back. |
