If I could pick a Fireball up in Oz direct, the money saved would pay half if not more of the airfair. Or get a grey copy like a cobra board I'd be very tempted.

why not get a local Irish shaper to make you a copy of a fire ball, I know they are revered as though there is a special magic ingredient (maybe there is, maybe they are blown / shaped up in Byron Bay after a few local 'cookies'). But they are still a board and can be copied.

Might short circuit the Oz plan, plus the previously-touted Eireball could become a reality!

Might get Ger to do that but it will be a while before I need a new long board. Mine is made of strong stuff. Looking for something for the bigger days. Think Ger already has a board he's planning on selling to me after he's surfed it for a while so I'll get it a a knocked down price.

I did a quick google you can order a FB for less than 850 usd from Capecod, with shipping, duty vat what would that come to 850 euro?

Now where's me trubo tunnel fin, fancy arm blades and Kelly Slater protein bar laugh.gif

I'm trying to understand your analogy?

Do you ride a pushbike?

An estate, but i live on a street with a music school where you get lots of SUV's and 4WD's driven by parents dropping one kid off and think it's ok to,

Park at the entrance to the street blocking it

follow that up by doing a 3 point trun in the entrance blocking it more, they could drive down the street turn and come back out but not.

Maybe throw it double parking.....

You wouldn't believe half the stuff I've seen them do, so far it's only caused two accidents including knocking a 75+ year old mad down breaking his shoulder

Several family have tried to sell their housed and move because of it, even before the property bubble burst they couldn't. Show the house any evening or Saturday and the buyers couldn't get parking and kept going.

Basically I've no time for SUV's or City 4WD's if you've a big family and need one fair enough but don't act like the above.

so where do high end californian logs fit in here?

DrAL- 05-01-2008
on a more serious not I'm with ya.
same kinda situation near me.
the funny thing is that parent say SUVs are safer. Which is ok if you're in one but eventually you have to let your kid out of the thing.
"watch out for the SUVs son"

exclusion zones around schools?
heavier taxes for larger (non working) vehicles?
extra driving test for bigger 'cars'?

were turning into americans lads. we have to drive everywhere, the streets are not safe!

love a good noodle in the morning

Off topic for a moment, Look, I am not just having a go at you, it is the general anti-SUV attitude that I am getting a bit sick of.

SUVs do not drive badly themselves, SUV drivers do (I don't think this is the same as 'guns don't kill people etc NRA nonsense - guns only have one purpose). SUV drivers who act inconsiderately should be targeted by the bile. I drive an SUV cause I need to access sites that I will not take my car to, I also like the load carrying ability, the high seating position, the ability to carry up to seven people and also to fit my longest boards in!

Apols for going off topic, rant over.

I'm with CJS on this one. It's not necessary to have a 2 litre + SUV for dropping one kid off to school. Fair enough, if you need a 4x4 for work purposes, but those 2 wheel drive Santa Fe type yokes serve no practical purpose. They don't even have good storage. All they do is burn more petrol and make bad schoolmum drivers even more dangerous tongue.gif

Drivers in 2 litre Honda CRV shaped glasshouses shouldn't throw stones biggrin.gif wink.gif

I'm with yous on the bad driving thing and why do people think they're safer in chelsea tractors is beyond me. Having said that, I'm driving a 25 year old Landrover that seats 8 and no trouble getting all the boards on top either. Don't fancy driving into town with it though, as it has the turning circle of an aircraft carrier. Buy the car you like and teach your overweight kiddies how to walk/cycle to school safely...

Back to board porn then. more piccies? anyone? pleeeaaassse!

That yoke has gone into retirement since I got the van. All she does now is drop the kids off to music practice laugh.gif

Ah she was a gem in her day though. Slept 1 comfortably, two if you were 'acquainted', and never once refused a board because of its length. Took me to every known and some not some known spots in the country and never once got stuck in a field or beach. A true surf wagon. I've really only kept it for sentimental reasons tongue.gif
