Its to make it easier to get your toes over and to give you something to grip, as well as accentuating the nose ride itself.

TSU- 04-30-2008
Thanks.

So essentially even if you've got ten over it could still be classified as a 'cheater ten' on one of those boards because in the truest sense of the word it's cheating?! tongue.gif

In 4 sentences or less can somebody explain what cut-off noses are designed to achieve please? On the Riddler it looks like it's integral to how the board is meant to be surfed, but on that Bing it just looks like they've had an accident in the shaping bay.

I personally don't like the pig design myself (at the moment anyway, but that could all change a few years down the road) , nothing at all to do with the fact that this particular design & shape (Bing Resurrection) is sold exclusively by Icons, lol
Apparently the pig was every surfboard manufacturer’s “bread and butter” back in the late '50's early '60's.

I know that Zeph Carraig incorporated the cut off nose on the BING Is Is so that he could give a 20"+ nose on the board without giving it a " trash can lid look".

I could be wrong but i think it makes it harder to sink the nose?

I wouldnt be sure, instead of having one point on the nose you now have two, but then again the nose is now shorter.

I think time will tell!.

I know the argument about using black and it s tendency to delam, but has anyone had this happen to them or know of anyone that this has happended to?, I dont, and I had a board which was completely black on the bottom for a good while.

Have two boards that have navy decks (one of them is fully navy) and I leave them in the direct sun to melt the wax off them during the summer when I want to re-wax them. Never had a difficulty but was a bit paranoid the first time, they did get quite warm. Both are Cequential boards, not that it makes a difference.

Ok so it may (and I stress may) not delaminate but it's still an SUV, expensive and all for show, give me a Defender any day

I saw a defender converted into a camper recently. Savage yoke altogether, Id still like a legacy outback as my surf car though.

Dude, if that's where your line of thinking is then you could apply that to any boutique board that's discussed on this forum, a lot of which are considerably more expensive than a Fireball. Your criticisms would be justified if those boards didn't work, but experience of those who own Fireball's and other high end boards owned by your fellow LBI'ers have proven quite the opposite.

Now get off your shark biscuit and go out and buy one...you know you secretly want to laugh.gif

I think you might have missed by point/jibe/joke
Black Bing Resurrection = an SUV, expensive and all for show (as defined by cjs)
Fireball = Land Rover Defender (man car, real deal, fit for purpose, all interpreted by implication)
Cjs didnt nail his colours to the mast (boardwise) so I nipped in there in jest

W.r.t Fireball purchase, Im waiting until Pockets has too many toys to notice his Fireball missing one of these months. New sprog = no new toys for a few months or so blink.gif

If I could pick a Fireball up in Oz direct, the money saved would pay half if not more of the airfair. Or get a grey copy like a cobra board I'd be very tempted.

why not get a local Irish shaper to make you a copy of a fire ball, I know they are revered as though there is a special magic ingredient (maybe there is, maybe they are blown / shaped up in Byron Bay after a few local 'cookies'). But they are still a board and can be copied.

Might short circuit the Oz plan, plus the previously-touted Eireball could become a reality!
