Im going to Lagos for a week at the end of this month. our plan is to rent a car and drive to a few spots. I'll be able to give you advice when i get back if you haven't already left.
I'm thinking of buying a shortboard over there, instead of bringing one over. is that a bit risky? does anyone know about prices?

I will probably be back by then, so might be able to return favour!

I am heading from 18th May for a week.

Well, back to real life.

Had a good trip, got some good and some ok surf. Took the 9'2" and was glad. Very little surf happening on the south coast, so headed on surf trips with surf experience crowd, we did not bother renting a car as I would have spent half my time looking for the fickle enough swell. Got to some lovely beaches and a lovely left hand reef. Surfed in boardies and rashie for most sessions, had the shortie on for one of the windier days though.

Would head back there for another trip without hesitation

How did you get on 13seabass?

Would you reccomend the ''surf experience'' crowd? Wondering where to go next oct and/or x mas. I have no interest driving during hol's!!

How did you get on in lovely lagos? Did you have a jaeger in Eddies? What breaks did they take you to? Is that left reef Ponta Riva by any chance? The take off is just beside a giant rock.

Hey DB,

the big left was at the end of a beach near a town called Carpeteria, the take off was about 25 yds from the cliffs, then it peeled (thundered!) around towards the end of the beach. Can only remember the name of one other spot - Amado, nice little beachie with a mix of breaks and a nice sand bar formed a-frame in the middle, good long runs at higher tide.

Passed Eddies place a couple of times but did not head in. It was usually late enough and the crowds tended to be a few drinks ahead. I must be getting old!

Biscan,

these were the guys I went with http://www.thesurfexperience.de/ The villa is a couple of kms outside Lagos but was really nice, although I stayed in Lagos as I was with non-surfing travelling companions. They take you to pretty good spots and usually have a mixed bag of people of the trips from learners to experienced surfers. A couple of the days, we went to better spots than the learners. They picked me up in the town each morning and I left my board with them at night so I did not have to haul it around.

That is a big left ok surfed there a few years ago very nasty

the take of is steep, then a noce trim before belting past that weird bowling section facing straight into the cliff, nice run out though towards the beach

hey, sorry i took so long to reply. had a great trip we rented a Peugeot 107 laugh.gif a little beast!! had three boards on top, and made the drive to the west every morning. the forecast was worrying but we got surf every day and some were really nice. i surfed the left at carrapateira first day big and offshore! the rest of the days we were at the beaches amado and arrifana. very busy places but plenty of waves. all in all great trip and looking forward to going back. good to hear your trip was a success too.

Car break-ins oommon in Lagos area. Also up north of Lisbon, don't leave anything valueable behind. They watch for non locals. Police are useless also. Great place otherwise, wonderful locations, surf and food.

Enjoy
