I think there will be plenty of exploring going on. With a wave period that high it should be getting into every nook and cranny. Havent had a good surf in ages so Im really looking forward to it.
How did you find the water temp Hurled?, Im taking my 3/2 but was also thinking about taking my wetsuit jacket and boardies?.
Jumped in for a swim one day in board shorts and winter rashie and it stung a bit to be honest but once you got down it was lovely a bit like Ireland in the summer once you were down it was comfortable enough. But I don't think you would last more than a hour if you tried. A better bet would be a short sleeve summer suit my friend wore his one for the whole trip. Toasty in the 3/2.

didnt know what suit I was gonna bring until now - Ive a Billabong shorttie thats been gathering dust for a few years thats sounds perfect for the trip - cant effin wait. Mpb, Im the week after you - keep us updated!

Will do.
My wetsuit top and boardies are nearly as warm as a shortie, so I think I will still take it and hopefully get a few afternoon sessions in it.

Looks like MPB will be getting some great waves over there, hope it holds for us or we get some new swell when we are there in a weeks time

just back from moroc... the surf was less than ideal but did get some fun surfs in at tamri, hash and boilers.
ended up taking both the 7'8'' pin and the twinzer... was surpirsed at how well the twinzer held up in head and a half boilers... got pics to share in a few days once i sort through all 500+
did get a long board session in at hash in board shorts...can get away, but at some of the bigger breaks would prefer to have the protection of a 3/2.....
good luck mpb, hope the surf is better for you than it was for me.

Well, Jamkel is now covered, have a lovely gun sitting in my front room for him.
Now all we need is someone to bring back pics to show that he used it:)

Thanks for that HP I'll down this evening forit.
I'd love to give it a bash now if there was a handy sized swell. Snap a photo in the Greg Noll stance, arms out wide board pointing straight down. feck it!! that would be a cool one

3-4 ft boilers, anka and mysteries so far - swell to build this eve - a bit sunburnt today

Back from a good and exhausting trip.
No charge at Dublin even though board bags were in excess of 15kg. However, at Agadir they charged us for excess baggage onthe way back and were not going to budge, they even charged us at a rate that had only changed on the 4th, after we flew out. Currently looking to claim this back.
ATM machines in Morocco can sometimes look as though they have done a Transaction and do not issue money, they seem to do this when they run out of money. Not the most confidence inspiring start to a trip.
Apartment was spacious, and well positioned. Anyone already booked or thinking of booking please contact me for more information, there are a few things you should perhaps be made aware of.
Weather was warm and sunny, morning offshores, and late afternoon/evening glass offs, light onshores middle of most days. Not quite warm enough for me to ditch the 3/2.
Killers - my favourite break, we were lucky to get this up to DOH, although, there were plenty of inbetween sizes and sections to position yourself on. This was a full blown barrel fest, and was the deepest I have ever been in a barrel. The best ones seemed to be on the inside section where it just sucked the sand right up the face of the wave. Longboard and quad fish worked equally as well, although I was glad to get on the fish so I could at least duck dive some of the waves and make the wipeouts a little less severe. Having surfed killers, i think the name refers to the side shore rip rather than to killer whales. The rip was a full on bitch.
Anchors - would have been my favourite if it had not been so insanely crowded relative to the tight take-off spot. I think this was worse than normal because this was the first decent swell of the season. Again DOH on the outside, and peeling all the way through. Managed 5 waves in 2 hours on my fish, and that was all down to luck, opportunities were very rare unless you dropped in. Barrel on my 2nd more than made up for the wait. (f*ckin spongers!)
Hash point - few longrides on the longboard, but is insignificant compared to its bigger brohers.
Banana Point - okish wave, surfed here towards the end of the week when we were just too tired to risk anything too challenging.
Boilers - didnt fancy the size/crowd/access point combination, especially as there were so many other places working.
La Source - Small sucky beachie/reef, bit of fun.
Immousane - Some fairly sizey waves were to be had on the first day of the second swell, which had more west in it. My first wave was the longest I have ever had, I wasnt even half way through the ride and I couldnt turn anymore, my legs were shaking with the effort (100m noserides anybody?). That coupled with the very long walk back around to the beginning made it feel like some kind of marathon. I think we all picked up some kind of injury that day, from the access point sucking dry on me (few scratches on the fish) to reef cuts, stubbed toes, and dubious omlettes. At higher tides you ended up walking through the village itself to get to the harbour and the start of the point. Bizarre!.
There is a very nice and very reasonably priced surf cafe upstairs in Taghazoute, we are talking €3 for a big plate of pasta. In fact buying supplies to cook yourself seems to work out more expensive. The tagines (sp?) are fantastic and well worth trying.
To summarise, we scored big time, seeing and surfing some fantastic waves, good company and good food throughout. However, it is still very much a poor country, with a large division between the haves and the have nots. Certainly I would not feel comfortable travelling there with my family, but hopefully the next 5 to 10 years will see the country becoming a bit more suitable for family holidays (IMHO).
Anyway, some Pics:
