| the dora book is good so far. There are some interesting parallels with California in the 50s and the subsequent sell out/mass commercialization with whats happening here at the moment. |

| Hopefully the recession will kick in before the SUP boom kicks in. They are being marketed like there is no tomorrow at the moment. I have had one for about 6 months, They are very very difficult to surf, but easy to paddle. That's a very bad combination. A lot of shops are marketing them and there are surf schools doing lessons. Every mag seems to have a SUP supplement at the moment. There are now BIC and NSP sup. My local shop now has a few in stock. They are fun to paddle, and a great workout. Also fun in fat waves that break & reform where a regular board sucks. Unfortunately the Marketing machine is focussed on SUP this year. It will bugger it up for everybody both on air travel and in the line-up as we'll all be tarred with the same brush. If the sup thing does happen, give it a few years and we will see councils banning all surfboards from certain areas. I really hope I'm just blowing it out of all proportion. |
