we need a Surfers Against Sewage or Surfrider organisation here

Anyone up for starting Irish surfers against sewage?

It effects us all, north south east and west.

Cant remember the name of the fella but he designed and built the sewers in london keeping in mind that the population was going to grow. Sewers must be in london since 1750's (correct me if im wrong) point being how can we not do things right here in 2008. Thank god for european regulations as mentioned above, but i hope funding will be provided to build proper plants to meet regulations. As i doubt in the current climate we will be able to afford major public works in nearly every large town in the country.

Theres been sewers in London since Roman times.
Same ones are still in use today.
As the population grew they started to use the Thames as a massive open sewer, the main reason for the spread of the plague as far as I know.

On the main issue, the water quality around Ireland is a disgrace.
I don't know how Youghal had a blue flag in the first place and Ardmore beach close by, is disgusting!
We must have one of the least populated coastlines in Europe yet our water must be near the worst.
