Ferg

Male, 31

Maried, 0 Kids, 2 Dogs (One is more like a small pony than a dog)

I'm DB's younger, better looking brother.

Also started surfing about 4 years ago thanks to OBS's encouragement.

Started surfing a BIC 6'7...then quickly graduated to a 9'2'' longboard (Thanks to DaveJ insisting upon it). Just bought a 9'8'' Robert August.

I aparently have a propensity for lady bashing in the water, as well as getting my nipples twisted by pro surfers(demon drink).

Have surfed France(ish), Portugal and Cali

Hi

Female 35

Married 3 kids

Living in West Cork but will be spending my Summer in Kerry in a caravan

Yet to figure out the surfing lark had lessons in Fuerte in Feb & started here about 3 weeks ago.

So far I spend my time falling on my arse looking at the board heading away from me. So my ambitions for the Summer is not to go completely off my head with 3 kids in caravan and once on the board to actually let go and stand up, staying standing might be pushing it !

Hi Daisy

Do you know Bof by any chance?

Divorced, 4 kids biggrin.gif ... seriously... unsure.gif
Clare now but probably Galway in Sept for college
Have been surfing on/off for 3/4 years but intend to get seriously into it this year since aquiring a driving license.
Also intend to make a longboard this summer, a mini-mal is the closest I have to a log. Also have 2 shortboards.
Have surfed around Clare, once or twice in Mayo and a few times in Cork/Kerry.

DaveJ

34 and married to Mrs J (Laura), no smallies yet, from Limerick by birth but living in Clare by choice

Started surfing about 96 on small shitty boards, but things came together in 98 with a decent mal. Mostly flit between longboards now, with the shorter pointy stuff only coming out on big days.

Surfed in west, south and north of Ireland, Morocco, Oz, New Zealand, Morocco, Oahu, Barbados, Morocco, Bali, California, Long Island, Morocco

Interested in development of surfing in Ireland, on committee of West Coast Surf Club (longboard officer!) and Chairman of Frolics Surf Club. Love to see learners stoked. But still appreciate a quiet, nice, chunky peak with just a few mates.

Coming to terms with my various vices, back to 1/2 lb of sausages on w/end mornings and I can hardly remember the last time I punched a girl for dropping in.

Have a little identity crisis when it comes to where I'm from. Living in Kildare for nearly 7 years but from Cork anytime I'm asked smile.gif Work in pharmaceuticals and have a part-time Physical Therapy clinic to keep me busy in the evenings. Started surfing back in college but went back to it seriously 2 1/2 yrs ago. Since then it's almost become like "Hello, my name is Dor and I'm a surf addict", probably thanks to a few other members on this forum (cjs, TSU, Splash).

Started out on a Bic 7'3, hated it after one session and upgraded to a custom 8'6 (in fine Cork colours). Recently came into ownership of a 7ft short/funboard shaped by Ian of Cequential and now am looking to increase my quiver yet again with a noserider. There's no end with this is there??!

Mostly surf in Sligo but also Cork, Kerry, East coast, and been a few other places too. Had one surf trip to Portugal which was a disaster but hoping for a more decent trip there next Oct. Have surfed a little in Solana Beach and Del Mar, SoCal.

Into a fair number of other hobbies, took up triathlon last summer but surfing is interfering with the race/training schedule this summer, got into a little photography through surfing, play with a small cafe/salon music type of orchestra and there's a few more but...

Longest time I can go without a surf before I get irritable? It's gone from 3 weeks to a week.... longboardirl/surfing.gif

Real name is Noel.
Age 30.
Practically married to a magic lady who lurks on this site (don't be shy carmina smile.gif ).
Born n raised in Ennis Co. Clare, now living just outside Inagh.

Was always a beach bum - but took to a sponge in Lahinch around '92.
Bought my first surfboard in '94 ( a 6' 3" custom) and wondered why it was taking me so long to stand up! biggrin.gif - No guiding force like LBI to show me the error of my ways!

Didn't really take surfing up proper until '01 when college was over.
Haven't looked back since.

I STILL have that 6'3", along with a lovely fish, 2 logs and a variety of pop-outs/flotsam that I share with my special lady friend.

I frequent most Clare spots if and when they're working, but my favourite spot would be what me and my hetro-lifemate Tucker call 'Toms Peak' in Lahinch when it's working. With the sun going down, offshores, and some friendly faces in the lineup I can't think of another place I'd rather be.

Surfed around Ireland, France, and got the head wet in Lanza smile.gif

Other/prior hobbies don't really get a look-in.
Hackey-sack I spose.... not much else.
If there are waves we're normally on it.

Without sounding too cheesy, I love the joy that surfing has brought...
Be it catching a sweet wave, BBQs, after-surf sessions, or just chilling on the couch with my girl watchin a surfing DVD.

If I have any regrets, it's that I didn't go headlong into the surfing life sooner.

Hi,

It really does feel like AA,

My name's Paul, im 31 years old and im addicted to surfing.

Got into it back in 01, got a board from Jamie Knox and a mate gave me a lesson. Havent looked back since. Although ive never been back to Kerry surfing - must be because there is no surf there ph34r.gif
Im originally from Dublin but the missus is from the North West so we moved to north Leitrim 3 years ago and havent looked back since. 25 mins fo my nearest break.
Ive surfed in Lazo, Future and Oz where i picked up a 7'4" McTavish and even met the man himself. Ive been surfing a shortboard for the last few years but the missus got me a DT Noserider for Christmas. Now im just confused when it comes to which board to surf. Lovin the glide of long board

Love the site, fair play to you all and all the banter even though i only know a few faces to see. Breaks up the daily grind

remind me why we are doing this weird intro thing?

mpb- 06-22-2007
I think to make the forum more open to new users?. I would be interested to see your profile Lance.

vegaluca- 06-22-2007
It had been said before that we (reg contributors) can be a bit cliquey in that a lot of us on here know each other.
The idea of the intro page was to be an ice breaker for neubs who may be finding it a little daunting to post on a particular thread.
Also it gives us a little info on a nuebee so as to not take the mick if they ask what maybe an obvious answer of a question to most of us.

rony b- 06-22-2007
well i suppose that with every introduction there has to be a welcome.

so welcome to all new folks who have posted here. hopefully we can answer any or all of your questions.

started off bodyboarding in sligo before that and moved onto a mini mal. surfing a fat boy flyer now but hoping to get a longboard soon.

usually surf by myself if i can. cant deal with crowds at all. would prefer an average wave with a couple of people out to a great wave thats crowded. (its all about escapism!)
