Barman, Is that Balllyholme in Bangor east or do I have the wrong name?

barman- 03-12-2008
Aye in west ballyholme born and raised. and yes on the east coast lol

omots- 03-12-2008
Been around there alot lately and wondered could it be possible at all for some swell to travel there from a Northernly direction?

barman- 03-13-2008
like most crap on the east coast it needs wind swell . Checking windguru looks like it might work on sunday or monday. It will also be howling onshore but as soon as the wind dies the swell will too. I put it in there as a bit of a joke really but will probably be attempting it at the weekend again if your up for it ?

Dónal or donnie,

Only 15yrs,

Am local to G-town Cork, but started surfing in Kerry.
My first wave (only last month) was a 16 ft foot mother on a borrowed
7'2" spider. I was standing for all of three glorious seconds before being absolutely pummeled!!!

I was in pain, but those three seconds where enough to get me hooked. Am now stoked on my own 7'2" rocky-point!!!

Half the size of the face and then knock another 4 feet off to counter any youthful exageration!. laugh.gif

My guess is it was a 4ft wave, which is still penty good enough to be having a go at for your first wave.

Okay possibly didn't think that through before posting. sad.gif
But do take into consideration i didn't actually take the wave
intentionally!!! It was kind of rouge and took me by surprise,
I played along and suffered the consequences!!!

ok, I've been lurkin' on these boards for a while so i guess it's my turn....

Al

originally from the northside of dublin where I grew up sailing dinghies. Now trapped in Belfast writing my PhD (wave energy). Mainly surf weekends on the north coast.

Surf history: took a few lessons last year and then decided 'now or never' and got a 7'9" BIC. recently decided longboarding was the way to go (no need to justify that decision i guess) so I spent easter building my own 9'6", see "mongo" below. Many thanks to glide for all his help!!! now all i need is some decent conditions for the launch.

very interested in board design.

Surf travel: spent four glorious days surfing afife in portugal last september, other than that I haven't left the north coast, apart from one session in donegal, I'm dying to get out west, south and north west for that matter.

love the water, hate engines.

Brilliant job on the board but I've got some bad new for you........

Did Glide explain that you have to let the resin cure for two to three weeks before it gets full strength, you can't surf it !!!

But in a few days it's OK to wax it! biggrin.gif
