I've been out there before, and for an Irish head understanding their weather charts is crazy. I'm off there for a week next week and I can't figure out what the surf will be like. Long period yet small swell size waves coupled with fairly strong offshore winds.

Anybody have any expertise or advice? Sure I'm used to just the local reefs and the local conditions here!

thanks folks wink.gif

Up until Wednesday I would just head to cotillo or one of the other west coast beachies, that generally maximise any swell around. New swell on Wednesday, looks set to stick around for a while. Winds are looking good most of the time. You should score a few good sessions I reckon.

Have a good one. longboardirl/surfing.gif

Thanks guys. I know 6ft swell @14 seconds in fuerta is the equivalent of 12ish foot swell @ 14 seconds in Ireland, and was worried about conditions wink.gif

Wonder what we will do on sat-tue tho ??? longboardirl/cheers.gif wink.gif

if you're steying in corralejo you could just spin along the north shore track and check out the reefs on the way to cottillo (?). quality breaks longboardirl/smiley20.gif

If your hiring a car I'd recommend autoreisen, they've got an office at the airport, I found them much cheaper than anywhere else and never had any problem with any of the cars I had off them. When I was there in October also noticed they've built a new (new since I was last there) road to Majanicho on the North Track, it's signposted at a roundabout on the road from Corralejo to Cotillo. As for things to do if the surf is crap, you could always have a stroll along flag beach checking out the 70 year old German nudists....nice ohmy.gif ohmy.gif . Enjoy, have a good trip, sure you'll get some waves. longboardirl/surfing.gif longboardirl/surfing.gif

i think they built that around january 05 to service those appartments/holiday homes that were being built out there at the time. it seemed very incongruous to be building such luxury units and a smooth new road right beside the old shanty style dwellings at majanicho.

That road has always been there.Cheakout the east coast if the swell is crap on the northshore, It will pick up south swells that will not show up on the charts.

h.bru- 02-03-2008
the road used to be a shitty dirt track - now it's a 2 lane smooth tarmacadem road - it was being laid in jan 05.
