Saw this on a review of kerry on a european site

"The locals are dangerous, we had wax spread all over our car and air let out of 4 tyres. We were hassled so bad in the water it was unreal"

JAYSUS sounds like a feisty bunch. Darn and I was hoping for a relaxing weekend. I am genuinely interested to see if there is hassle. I suppose I am under the impression it’s all a bit of friendly-ish banter toward non-locals just to keep them in their place. Can't imagine actual aggressiveness might exist in the water.

heard from a reliable source that a bunch of clare lads were assaulted by a bunch of locals at one sensitive spot - fisticuffs and all that crack!
the kerry lads are grand, theres only a few pricks in the water, your gonna have more hassle from tourist anyway - the biggest wanker I experienced in Kerry waters was when High Pockets dropped in on me on what was the wave of the day in Brandon once - and the fcuker couldnt stop gloating about it for the week!

I saw two incidents in the water last year at easter, one of them two people that live in the same county were involved laugh.gif Both involved people from this forum laugh.gif
The 2nd one I saw on the drain pipe was agro as feck, drop in by one guy then the surfer up riding ran into him and shoved him shouting "F*ck you" while the guy that dropped in swung a backward punch at the surfer up riding but didnt connect and wipedout, then there was a full on screamin match for a couple of minutes on the paddle back out.
Be careful out there laugh.gif

It sure does, its common sense to avoid shyte in the water anyway, respect the locals, respect the sensitivity of the place your surfing, show proper etiquette and the scraps can be avoided.

Ah yeah, your hosts Pat & Ronnie are sound. They run the dive centre there, incidentally it was Ronnie that discovered Fungie back in 1983.
If you happen to snap a leash their son Philip owns the surf shop opposite Spillanes Bar. Enjoy your stay in The Kingdom.

Excellent. I hope Spillanes is a short waddle away! No fear of me breaking a leash, you would have to be surfing big waves for that to happen!

Supposedly the National Geographic Traveller Magazine said the area "is the most beautiful place on earth". Obviously the bastards were never in Connemara or maybe they did send someone and we accidentally ate them. Whatever happened, I will eat my 6/5/4 Fireskin (about all its good for) if down that side is more beautiful than back home.
