I'm interested in board and fin design but find it hard to find good information. I have an engineering/science background and I'm getting fed up reading sales pitch crap on websites like "with our doppler effect fin you'll be the man, all your friends will buy you free beer and that blonde you've been chasin' will bonk you senseless".
I know most info comes from riding different boards and experimenting but surely there's some scientific explanations out there. For example, I'm still not sure i understand how thruster or bonzer setups really work and i think the venturi effect explanation relating to bonzers is pure twaddle.
anyone have them? any good? any other suggestions?
And before someone says "you should have gone to swaylocks", I've been, but to be honest its full of people with big egos arguing. There's some good stuff on there but it can be hard to trawl through the rubbish to find it.
if you can find the link to the web based surf design article by dave parameter i found that helpful.... really learned alot from that...and now that i am really starting to understand how waves break in a physical sense i can really put it together.... and that is what i did with the board that glide built me last summer
